Wrap-It-Up
for Food Bank! - Angel Tree Kid's Gifts - Wednesday, December 16,
Enfield Legion - Our Annual Angel Tree present Wrap-up
of all the gifts generously donated for our neighbours in need.
The more hands, the merrier!
 |
 |
 |
|
This year's wrapping for the Angel Tree
kids was even more of a bustling blur than usual, but
organizers noted more volunteers than last year so the
work went faster than ever. Thanks to all the
hardworking wrappers who came out, including a fair
representation from
Carroll's Corner
Youth Group. |
|
 |
 |
 |
|
Volunteer organizers were
kept hopping as usual consulting the private client
lists and tagging the steady flow of wrapped gifts. |
While many of the kids'
gifts are practical, Angel Tree never forgets they are
still kids, and there's lots of sweet treats for topping
up gift bags and trimming presents! |
When all the gifts are
finally wrapped for this year they're set ready by the
wall for Santa, and our tuckered-out elves can rest! |

March
10, 2009 - Chamber of Commerce AGM
- Representatives from Caring & Sharing
Angel Tree Food Bank attended the East Hants
& Districts Chamber of Commerce
Annual General Meeting at
the Airport Hotel.
Food Bank donated a gift
certificate to
Shooters
Restaurant in Enfield as
one of the door prizes and was pleasantly
surprised at being the recipient of the
profits from the evening's 50/50 Draw.
Photo - Treasurer Bernice
Donaldson accepted the donation from Chamber
President Steve Pottie (left).
Many thanks to the Chamber
members who contributed - it will be well
spent! |
Month
of March -
Curves®
Collects for Needy...
The Elmsdale branch of Curves®
in the East Hants Sportsplex declared March
their Food Drive Month and offered a sweet
deal on sign-up fees. Members joining
or renewing for the first few weeks of the
month could donate a bag of non-perishable
goods and have their fee waived - a savings
of $199. Response was so good they
extended the offer for the whole month,
looking for an even bigger donation to
distribute to Caring & Sharing and other
local food banks...
Owner Michelle Morash &
staff show off final donations, a whopping
349 pounds
of food was collected in total, plus $40
cash, and Curves ran a contest to guess the
weight! |

Trade
Show
April 29, 2009, 3:00pm to 8:00pm
Caring & Sharing had their first booth at a
trade show - the East Hants & Districts
Chamber of Commerce
Small
Business Expo at the East
Hants Sportsplex.
Exhibitors and members of
the public had a chance to meet our
volunteers and learn about what we do
in your community.
Programs like
Adopt-a-Family and the Angel Tree Christmas
Campaign were featured in the booth decor,
and copious amounts of handouts were
available along with tickets for all kinds
of raffles and draws, including the only
50/50 draw at Expo. Traffic during the
show was steady and we gained experience and
even some new volunteers!
 |
 |
 |
|
Volunteer staff
were on hand to distribute
handouts, discuss programs, sell
tickets and sign up new
volunteers! |
 |
 |
 |
|
The booth decor
was planned to visually
illustrate Food Bank's programs
and activities, from the hungry
teddies at the table, to a mini
Angel Tree. Even the
freebie chocolate loonies
promoted how much Food Bank can
do for others, with just a
little! |
